Republican Priciples
The Republican Party stands for smaller government, lower taxes, strong defense, and common-sense application of government policy in the area of economic regulation.

If you are wondering where you sit in the political spectrum, the chart above shows you where the Republican Party is relative to the others. It shows that we are more conservative in both fiscal and social areas than the Democrats. The stars represent the leadership of the parties, which in the Republican Party you can see tends to be more moderate than the average of the party, but you can also see that the Democrat leadership is in the extreme liberal end of its party. The Libertarians are in the corner that essentially opposes government for almost any purpose. The Greens believe in small, community governments which have a lot of authority over your money, but little authority over social matters like crime, drugs, etc. The Peace and Freedom party is made up of Communist/Socialist types which believe in big government and centralized control, and the American Independent party is one that believes in strong government on social issues but weak government on economic issues.
